where have I been…
the question clings to the footprints
the turning of leaves
the setting sun
and shadows thrown carelessly behind me

one step and then the next
that is all that matters to me now

where I am going
the moment when the sun rises
the hawk lifts from the wire
the foot touches the snow

that is where I am.
