sun rises over frosted fields

sun rises over frosted fields
another week begins
I am not watching the soft yellow light
or the limbs dipped in shimmering white
I think, instead, to you
sleeping under warm covers,
feeling your pulse in my skin
your breath against my cheek
and long already for the week
to be put behind me
then, as I turn the corner I realize
that you are that light
to bring colour to the bleakest day
I smile because of it
and continue on
