on the tenth day of Christmas

I treasure the photos that I have of past Christmas celebrations. I think I mentioned early on that photos for me are often the biggest trigger for remembering those moments. Being a bit in love with cameras, I also have thousands of photos that I have taken over the years, printed and digital files. The downside to digital is that unless you smart and back things up regularly, sometimes you can lose files. Sometimes even your backups can fail. This happened to me a couple of months ago. My external hard drive stopped functioning, and on it were quite a few photos that I had taken over the past couple of years… and sadly had not triple backed up like I usually do. I was so glad when a few days ago it started to work again because I was able to recover this set of photos that the kids and I did in 2012. It was the first time we sat down to do a more formal portrait of ourselves… and it was hard to keep a straight face through most of it. I am glad that I will be able to look back at these photos now (because they are properly backed up and will be printed) and remember the laughter that day, and the many “outtakes” we did. Makes me smile.
