to the finish line and beyond

I finished writing for Nanowrimo on Friday afternoon. I hit the 50,000 word mark as I finished my lunch hour (yay me!). The story of course is nowhere near being finished. I have another 50,000 to write and then after resting editing will begin. This year, writing during the month of November was very different from the past eight years. I didn’t have a second story pop up in the middle of trying to complete the first one what arrived. I used to think it happened because I didn’t plan out before hand what I was going to write about. I assumed it was the approach of free falling that allowed for other ideas to sneak in and try to derail me, but I was wrong.

I have been trying to think about what I have done differently this time, and I don’t think I have. I just got lucky with this story that whenever I sat down to write it was ready to be told. I am not going to question it, I am glad it wasn’t an all out brawl to get the words out. I didn’t write every day. I skipped a few days here and there because I was working or just needed a break from everything. I am glad that I did. I am also glad that I just kept writing.
