decay 2011

I started a series four years ago (could it be so long ago?) that I titled ‘decay’. I came across part of the file this morning and thought that it might be time to have a look at it again.

The process of decay is natural of course. We see it in various stages from the moment we find something that is brand new. It does not stay new for long, and as an object ages, passes through its life cycle, at some point, it begins to fall apart. I find it beautiful to witness. Sometimes it is difficult to accept or come to terms with when it involves people or animals (not sometimes, always) but there is also beauty to be found. These photos have me thinking again. For that I am grateful.
