last light of day
reaches out
the horizon dressed in gold
the ocean breathes me
and I want nothing more
than to disappear among the waves
once again
~
leigh-anne fraser
out beyond the window frame
the garden is laid out in corners
light and shadow
along the wooden sill
green moss grows
little paths into sunlight
we watch for the birds
to come and sit
on the branches
sing us songs
until twilight
through the trees
we watch the starry sky
my hand entwined in yours
nose pressed against
the window glass
until the faint blush
of sunrise
~
leigh-anne fraser
you come on frosted wings
creeping along the glass in morning
breath of a new day
new hope and love
that clings to the tiny hairs
on my face
I watch the intricate design
grow and change
as you take your time
with the sunrise
to form in your perfect way
this day
any day
not even my hand
flat against you can
stop you from changing
how I see the world outside
you are a wonderland
and I am just beginning
~
leigh-anne fraser
I remember love like yours
for all of my life
your tenderness and care
unconditional
pansies grown in the garden
for the breakfast table
fresh strawberries
and wild blueberries
I remember love like yours
and look for it in all I do
in the eyes of those around me
in my fingertips
and heart
digging down into the depths
arms of steel and stone
to tend the leaves
and sprouts
your laughter ringing out
to us all
I remember love like yours
after all of these years
you are never far from me
scent of baking bread
and homemade jam
hands as wide as dinner plates
holding me up to watch the world
perched on your shoulder
I remember love like yours
for always.
~
leigh-anne fraser
cover me in your light
I am river stone
and you are sunshine
free me from the moment
and let me fly
with the sparrows
who drink from the melting ice
cover me in your love
I am the space between
your lips and the next kiss
free me from the memory
from time and let it all
fall away
cover me in your everything
help me to see again
to feel, to breathe to love
free me and let me fly
until the sun dies
until the sky cracks wide
until the days end
and then never let me go
~
leigh-anne fraser
where have I been…
the question clings to the footprints
the turning of leaves
the setting sun
and shadows thrown carelessly behind me
one step and then the next
that is all that matters to me now
where I am going
the moment when the sun rises
the hawk lifts from the wire
the foot touches the snow
that is where I am.
