I discovered this amazing alpine flower in Mariposa Grove, Yosemite in California… it is incredible. The flower looks like fungus, but is not. I could not believe how red it was.

In May 2012, I had the amazing opportunity to travel to northern California, and visit the giant sequoias in Mariposa Grove, Yosemite and the Sequoia National Park. It was an amazing experience. Not surprisingly I have many photos of these incredible trees and their partners in the forests there. They moved me to tears.

your riot pulls me closer
and I remember

Sister of small people
Touched by the evening breeze
Cool and inviting
After long weeks of heavy heat
Breath to weigh down my soul
And I lay crushed by its heel
In the debris
Sister of the little ones
You lift me up to the clouds
Coloured white by the moon
And starlight dances in my heart
Wounds will heal after the lifting
My shoulder, near my heart bears the scar
My mind may take longer but you
Sister
Have pulled me through.
sister of my soul
I listened to the wind you sent me
to remind me
to help me to remember
and I do
Sister of the small people
I know who I am now.
I am you.

I write notes and letters
I will never send to you
Hoping my heart flies

in this moment hold me close

in the soft golden sunlight
this wave fell on stones

no pause to stand in
the light trails you leave behind
blur my heart and soul
