I forget to breathe
when I am with you
night breeze distracts
like a touch of fingers
to my neck
I am lost in the kiss
you left me
my heart has flown
in carnival fashion somewhere
my body I have forgotten
seeing it go
my eyes fail in this
a fantasy of lights
and improbable dreams
my ears refuse
and hear nothing
not until you wrap me
in your arms
does the air pull itself
through my lungs
and a smile
explodes above us
like lights on a ferris wheel
against the night sky
