to you
In darkness..
the listening is like breathing.
In and out.
Like a wave.
I stood once on the beach
in Monterey.
A stranger,
a tourist
in love…
but the soul knew.
Hello.
You in this moment.
Reaching out and remembering.
I have barely lived.
barely breathed
barely lived
Except for in this moment now.
Sad to travel with the sleeping
The road knows. I knew.
We flew past the avocado farms
and the foothills
I remembered
in the last moment
to breathe
And the ocean rose up
love. please
Who do we listen to
The mouth breathers
Or the lovers?
Myself, I prefer the lovers
Who wrap themselves
Around the moment
hold me close,
please
And even when it passes
I, in the next breath
Remember.

i loved you….

we watched …
Image
i only wanted…
Image
fire
sometimes
sometimes…
i just need to write
something that
feels beautiful…
to paint a picture
with words
to reflect images
that float and turn
in my mind
sometimes..
i just need to write
something that
cuts through
the haze and confusion
that slides through like
a sword so sharp
limbs fall off quivering
sometimes ….
there are no words
sometimes….
the shape of the letter,
the space in between
and the pounding
thunder in my heart
collide then scatter
like an explosion
remnants left in tiny corners
with no one to collect them
no one to gather the threads
and weave the story
back together
not so others can understand
but so i can.
sometimes…
these words are for me
and in my arrogance i believe
they are for others,
never for me,
how can i deserve them
if they come from me?
if they fight and claw
their way out
in the deepest part of the night
force everything to stop
so i can scramble
to find a pen and paper
how can they be mine?
but of course they are.
who else?
sometimes…
there are no words
and
sometimes
words are all there are.

I took a walk on the beach as my friend and I wandered down 17 Mile Drive. It was a beautiful way to end a busy day.
